For many of us, we wait until the last minute and either throw something together that we had in our closets or make a mad dash to the mall and settle with something that isn't all that great. Planning ahead is a huge pain in the ass, but I put together some unconventional holiday outfits that will make sure you are a standout at whatever holiday event you are attending. This first look could be used for a variety of events...company party, date night, you name it.

For this look, all you need is a great black pointed toe bootie, velvet high-waisted skinny jeans, a statement belt, a black blouse and oversized fur jacket. This look is casual and doesn't look like you're trying too hard, but it also has some spunk. It is an edgier take on a classic look and many of these items can be found in your closet. If you don't have velvet pants, a black skinny jean will also do.

In Nashville, the weather changes every ten minutes, so it also gives you some different layering options whether you plan on being inside or outside. Pop on a statement earring and a fun clutch and you are ready to roll. I linked original pieces, as well as some other options to complete this look.
