RINGING IN THE NEW YEAR IN STYLE

The countdown to New Years is ON! It is crunch time where we are all finalizing our plans, trying to avoid long lines and large covers and pull together a last minute outfit that will wow all our friends and potential NYE kiss.

NYE is tricky because usually the weather is chilly and you want to look great, but still be comfortable. I outlined a few inspiring looks with how to tweak each to fit your each and every need.

If you are one of the lucky girls going to a formal affair for NYE, floor length gowns with high slits and deep Vs are all the rage. Stick with a silk, metallic or velvet fabric and you can do no wrong. Complete the look with a clutch and strappy sandal (or patent pump if you want some edge).

BLING DRESSES

I will be the first to admit that I am not a "girly girl" but you can still take glitz and sparkle and make it you, I advise sticking with a long sleeve A-line dress so you are comfortable and aren't yanking at it all night. Also....sparkles are heavy...but they had that champagne belly and free you of having to wear spanx!  I linked some of my favorite options below.

BLAZERS

Blazers are amazing for soooo many reasons. They can be dressed up, dressed down, or taken off if you need more of a layering option. I have been into velvet and metallic for this season, but feel free to throw on any color or fabric you already have in your closet. Underneath, I would do one of two things based on what you are going for.

1. Layer a patterned metallic blazer over a dark graphic t, pair with high waisted leather pants and an amazing metallic pump.

2. Layer a solid metallic blazer over a sheer tank with a bralette or wear with nothing under it and a layered chain necklace. Trust me. (Just take some fashion tape to stick the blazer in place and avoid a Janet Jackson moment)

3. A classic velvet blazer of a silk camisole.

SHEER BLOUSES

Sheer blouses are SO sexy, but not over the top. They are classic and show a little skin...but still save the element of surprise :)

COATS

Nashville is FREEZING and unlike larger cities, such as Chicago, there is no such thing as checking a coat. You have to either hold onto it, keep it on, or be ok leaving it at the bar or having it stolen. These options are fun, stand out, and will keep you warm for an outside party.

OVERSIZED SWEATER AND SATIN SLIP SKIRT

Satin slip dresses and skirt are PERFECT for NYE. They are great for layering and mixing and matching. I recommend wearing an oversized wool sweater with a midi slip skirt.  You can also layer a slip dress with a black or neutral leather jacket. This look was created with H. Audrey in Nashville, TN. They have some amazing local options if you need to pick up a last minute look.

SUIT SHORT SET

For those of you in warmer regions, this short suit set is a great option. It is sexy and classic, but has a bit of edge. I would wear this with a statement earring, metallic clutch and black patent pump or ankle bootie.
